Hi!

Im on the hunt for an upgrade from my now dead canon 40d after the dreaded err99 message :(

im considering the 7D Mk II and wondered if anybody would be kind enough to email me a RAW file so I can take a look at in detail. Ideally something action shot on a 70-200 L f4 / 100 - 400 lens so its comparable to me [but anything would be great!].

Wondering if I really need the Mk II over a second hand 7D Mk I.

I don't have an image to email you right now, but the mkii is way better for low light stuff. The mki wasn't very good at high ISO. Probably on par with the 40d
 
I would say yes. I had a 40D and upgraded to a 6D because of the poor high ISO performance and hit and miss fo using oh the 7D.

I've also just bought to 7Dmkii for the speed and improved focus system and the extra reach for action and wildlife photography. Whilst the 7Dmkii doesn't touch the 6D for high ISO, THE 7Dmkii is so much better than the 40D ever was.

You can pickup brand new 7Dmkii body from Panamoz or dew for around £800

Not forgetting the leap years better AF speeds and 10fps, I can happily send you over a RAW shot when I'm back home tomorrow evening from Norfolk or sometime on Monday taken with the 7D Mark II & 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM if thats any good to you?

I'd not push my 40D above 400 iso
but happily push the 7D MkI to 800 iso and occasionally above.
(I'm always cautious with the iso)

However I'm seriously considering the 7D mkII now that the price is more realistic though.

oops, I run my 40D at 3200ISO quite a lot!!

That would be great if you wouldn't mind. just keen to see the real difference and see how my computer copes! :)

You can download 7d2 raws from the net easily enough?
 
Make sure you download from a reputable source though, as with any file :)

A raw file on Flickr? I have enough trouble uploading JPEG sized files on there these days!

lol my bad jim, what i was meaning to say was if you look on flickr and tell me what photo i will email the un touched raw ,ps trying to type eat your dinner and listen to her in doors isnt a good combo haaha
