Folk have mentioned teleconverters as perhaps being a good thing to have in the kit bag.
Would one work with these lenses and if so which one (I know that I will have to go to MF with the apertures):

The general advice is not to use tcs on sub-50mm lens and I'd doubt you'd get anything satisfactory from the 70-300...
