I fancy trying out the 10-22mm lens not sure if I'd get a lot of use out of it if I purchased it as I'm not generally a landscape kinda person but really fancy trying it. Works out £35 inc postage and insurance for the week. Worth a go??

Its better than buying one and finding out you will never use it

im hiring one for my iceland trip in a week and a bit, going to see how it works on the 20d or my brothers 350d :) is well worth it if you are seriously thinking of buying one but not sure, is a shame Stewart cant do discount if you wanted to buy one ? ;) ie get the cost of the hire off the lens if you buy one ! :) hehehehehehe

Where do you hire them from, got a website address?

it's not only useful for landscapes, you can get some great architecture and interior shots with it ;)

I hired the 24-105 f4 L for the last Herts studio meet so I could "try before I buy", and it was well worth it.

This time round I'm trying something different and then I can pick between the two. Got to be worth £35......

yeh I have to agree! Can't afford it this week now but will def hire it as soon as I can :D and ooh I will have to hire something nice for herts studio too

Really? Yes, that sounds obvious, but let's pause and remember for a moment that resell value for good lens (and the 10-22 qualifies as a good lens) is usually quite high. Depending where you bought it, where you're selling it, and how much you bought it for, you can even make a profit!

Yes, £35 is something like 1/10th of the price of a 10-22. But I reckon you could easily buy a new or used 10-22 and sell it back for less than or equal to £35 loss (again, it depends where you buy).

Sorry, not trying to take the p*ss. :)

This is one of the advantages of quality glass and why I don't really get worried when friends ask me for advice about getting an L lens. I just tell them if it's a good deal, go right ahead. Resell value of a 24-70 f/2.8 or similar is usually good.

I think for what the hire costs are on the whole range, its definitely worth it. I've just this minute ordered a Nikon 1.7 converter for 28 days hire.
It costs so little that in that 28 days I should have a good idea of whether i want to buy one or not.
If its crap then its cost me very little to find out....
