Right, I'm thinking of moving my blog to Wordpress. I've installed WP and all works well.

I want my blog set out so that each blog entry is within a list, and then when an individual entry is selected, a new dedicated page for that entry pops up (rather than every blog entry being listed in full within one page). Hopefully that makes sense?

So, do I need to install a theme to do this? OR am I missing something? My knowledge of WP is -1 on a scale of 1 to 10. :)

Cheers.

Hi Dav, hope you're doing OK. Does this help? Link Using option 1.

I use the ProPhoto theme and that gives the option to show the full blog post or an excerpt.

Heh fella - good to hear from you. Strange as I was thinking about you and Callow Hall earlier on :)

Thanks for the link. I'll have a look. I'm finding the whole WP thing clunky :(

Cheers again.

It takes a bit of getting used and I didn't find it very intuitive.

Funny, Callow Hall was on my mind earlier, I've been unwell for a few months but getting back on my feet. Hoping to go to the one in March.

Can't you just assign an image from your upload to featured image?

Do you mean like an archives list? If so this can be done using the sidebar latest posts widget. When you click the header of a post, a dedicated post page should pop up already.

Are you using the default theme Twenty Eleven ? You could try another theme, this may show your posts better.

Thanks for the help guys.

The more tag (button) looks like what I want.

Probably a stupid question, but if I click on the More button, the url that is displayed is something like -

http://www.davhughes.com/Blog/test-post/#more-103

What is the #more-103 all about? I'm just worried about the SEO side of things. although I'm guessing I don't need?

Cheers.

Did you install wordpress in the Blog folder? It's not showing up!

Ahhh that's a pity, it would have been an interesting read ;)

I *think* what you're trying to do is create categories for different blog entries, is that correct?

If so, You can create a category through the admin panel of Wordpress, then customise it using the file archive.php in your template folder...

For example, this is a category, which free stuff is posted on my blog;

http://www.vibrancephoto.co.uk/category/free-stuff-for-photographers/

When clicked, it will display all posts in that category. All my categories are listed in the right hand sidebar.

If I've not understood correctly, please provide more info :D
