On from my previous topic, time to fill an invoice but how it best to word it?

something like, Images used without permission 3/5/11, paper, page x
number of images used x 2 plus 1 image used online

does that cover everything? or cover to much?

First time I have had this kind of thing happen and don't want to sound to abrupt

I would certainly drop the without permission bit unless you want to fall out with them..yes they did wrong.. but so what.. if you want to strike up a relationship wiht them for future usage then dont be too harsh.. get paid yes.. but polite and businesslike not nasty and vindictive is the way to go..

Simply invoice them for publishing your work. If you want to also make them pay for using without permission then add costs. although again i wouldnt advise you doing that..

Presumably you ahve spoken to them and they are aware its your work... what i mean is.. whats to stop me sending them the same invoice?

Its definitely my work, there was only me there to take the shots

was of something I did last week. I had an email chat diaglog with the reporter who used the shots, said he would sort it after a job he had to report after lunch, I had emailed back when I got the email around lunch time with a thank you email and got an out of office bounce back, off for a week

He claims to have been told by someone else he could use the pictures. someone else may have told him that but I haven't told anyone that he can use my shots.

haha I wasnt suggesting it wasn't.. you have to show the person paying that its your work.. you cant just say it is.. hence my question.. Whats to stop me sending an invoice and saying its my work?

Right thats all you need.. simply quote the reporters name in the invoice to show they know about you and they are your images :)

PS:
This bits pretty lame if not laughable.. ignore it :)

Just do a normal invoice for picture usage.. dont mention used without permission and use the reporters name as a reference... list as you ahve done the dates and pages and the pictures and your price.. businesslike..

I have all of that info so will so that

I see what you mean regarding the question now, the reporter will know its me aswell by the emails already sent/having my contact details (invoice sent will match those on his sytem)

I laughed as soon as I read it to be fair, had they have contacted me they would have had better images printed than hugely streched 800 px longest side, saved at 72 dpi at 60% quality
