Really! I used to say to my missus I wish I lived in India or China, so as I can get all those cheap goods. The missus used to say to me, a camera, tv and other electrical goods will be the last thing on my mind. As I would probably just struggling to feed us in those places.

Yeah, Australia would be awesome - likewise with Canada.
I've gotten quite a bit of stuff from the US and China and have only been hit once with customs despite having the full values written down.
Think it might depend on what mood the customs people are in.
I've often noticed that alot of US sellers only use DHL, Fedex etc and the prices can be stupid. B&H quoted $45 to send about 100 grams of screen protector.
I use shipito.com who do mail forwarding from the US. For an $8.50 fee they receive your item from the original seller, then give you a bunch of shipping options to choose from and then they send it to you.
It's very useful as there are many US sellers who won't post overseas at all.
You decide the declared value and who the courier is. They offer all the usual companies but also the US postal service which costs a fraction of the main couriers and does a perfectly good job of things.
