Anyone recommend a wireless flash trigger for a 5D and 430exII, looking at a soft box as well + stand simple set up, just getting started and looked here but too many systems/ways for my head to understand.

Merc the dim:lol:

Dave

what price are these please, and will it control the 430exII without the reciver

Merc, the £26 ones should come with one transmitter (that fits in the camera hotshoe) and a receiver that sits under the flash unit. Works a treat, but you will have to set power manually (it's just a trigger, can't do TTL...)

Hi, I've got some Yongnuo RF-602 and I'm happy with them. If you're close enough to me you could have a play with them if you want to give them a try. I'm in Disley.

Hi when you say set power are you talking about the flash power out put or the wireless out put

Hi thanks for that as long as there better than the catus V'2s i had years ago that will do me.

Flash output. The cheap triggers are just that - a trigger. They don't connect the camera via the camera-flash comms pins, so you can't do ETTL or set the custom functions (for example).

You'll have to experiment getting the flash power correct given it's position. That's a minor inconvenience given the added creativity you have after getting the flash off the camera itself.

Hi thanks for that, it will keep me busy testing flash output,

what about a flash soft box type thingy it attaches to the flash any recommendations:thumbs:

also first curtain sync second curtain sync can i have a layman explanation, i am guessing this is poss to do with light fall off, or full exposure???

Depends what you want to do, but yes, generally you need one. They all affect the outcome differently. htp://strobist.blogspot.com is a good place to start looking (see the strobist 101 on the right hand edge)

Google is your friend :) http://neilvn.com/tangents/2010/06/02/first-curtain-sync-vs-rear-curtain-sync/
