I am looking for a wireless remote shutter release for my Nikon Z9 - ideally something that I can put in my pocket (a bit like the Canon BR-E1). The nikon accessory for this is the WR-R11a and WR-T10 kit which involves attaching a receiver to the 10 pin remote socket. The kit is only available from Japan and costs £150 on ebay plus import duties and VAT.
You can get the WR-R11a here (for £149) but according to Grays of Westminster the WR-T10 has been discontinued (couldn't tell me why and quite honestly weren't that helpful - they offered to order in the WR-R11a but I had to point out that there wasn't much point if I couldn't get the transmitter part). I could order that on ebay from Japan but I am a bit reluctant a). because of the total cost and b). because I would want to know why they have discontinued the transmitter.
I understand that Hahnel do a remote that they say is compatible with the Z9 but this has a receiver that fits on the hot shoe and the transmitter is a bit chunky.
What I don't understand is why I can't just connect a simple third party remote via bluetooth.
If anyone has any experience or knowledge around this subject I would be really grateful for some help.
Here's hoping someone has an answer.......Cheers Steve
