Am I correct in assuming that supposing you found the prefect wireless keyboard you want, but trouble is that it is a combo kit, it comes with a wireless mouse,

there's nothing to stop you just using the keyboard only, the mouse you don't want, is left in the box and treated like spare parts?

Surely those plug-in USB receiver can still work with just the keyboard itself, it don't need both the keyboard and mouse?

Yes, the mouse would stay in the box and you continue using your wired mouse.

Exactly this. You can use one or other or both without issue.

That's great, I was hoping there wouldn't be some stupid software drivers that expects to be connected to both the keyboard and mouse, and that it can just work fine with keyboard as long as I can use a different mouse.

Sometimes I wonder what is the point of those keyboard and mouse combo when you find the keyboard is what you really want, but not the mouse. I mean, if you like that camera but not the lens, you can buy it body only.

Well that's good to know, thanks guys.
