Can anyone suggest a reason why all of the windows photo viewing progams are all showing really really dark all of a sudden?
I have a calibrated monitor and all imagines look fine (and print correctly) using PS or lightroom but if i'm just previewing a jpeg or the like, using picture viewer or windows photo viewer - I can barely see whats there..

any idea's????

thanks but I know other viewers will work - just why not windows own??

GRRRRRR!!!! :annoyed:

What changed when it went wrong? Did you change anything?

nothing has changed - I got a new monitor which I calibrated, but every other program looks as it should do (and my old screen is running along side which is set the same as it always was)

I realise this is a zombie thread, but I encountered the exact same issue when I recently bought a calibration device.

It's because Windows Picture Viewer uses v2 ICC profiles, so if you create a profile post version 2, it messes up the picture viewer. You'll find that if you select slideshow, it then displays fine because that does use the more recent profile versions.

You can either live with it, or force your calibrator to produce a V2 ICC profile.

Not sure whether it's still an issue in Win 10, will check tonight.
