i have loaded my windows home server on to usb stick as sai in the other post but not getting much luck

current screen says

pxe-e61 : media test failure , check cable
pxe-mof : exiting hp pxe rom

any idea's is it a computer issue or a

boot failed ,continue to look for boot media
wait for input ....................................

i have left the hard drive where it is and will be moving it once my other hard drives arrive all being well is this the cause of the problem ???

or does it sound like its not booting from the disc correctly

so how can i check that neil it keeps showing the same thing always showing above
it jsut keeps refreshing the same thing searching

normally you can boot up the system settings to change such things but this has no option unless im missing something

How did you create the bootable usb stick?

Think I had to download something to make it. You can't just put the image file on the usb stick.

I never had to go into the bios on mine. It just booted from the usb stick.

Edit just seen your other thread so probably not that. You could try another PC to see if it will boot from the usb stick.... then just turn it off or otherwise cancel install to prove it works.

Oh and I installed to the supplied drive without moving it.

pxe means the system is trying to do a network boot.

Drop into the BIOS and select the correct boot ordering (there may even be a key to allow you to override it (F7/F11 often).

Glad it helped ;)

You need to get into the BIOS somehow and change the boot priority. It looks like by default the motherboard will try and boot from the network first. In the best case, this will slow your boot times considerably, in the worst case, it will mean you have to remove the Ethernet cable every time you reboot.

will have a look and change when i get 5 mins

and thanks again

HP are generally F10 to enter setup and F9 to access the boot order for a one time selection. Ie, go into setup - set the boot order you want most of the time, press F9 on boot to select USB/Network/CDRom as a one off.

Not played with the Microserver's myself but from what I read on here they appear to be just workstations so above would probably work. If they are full blown server setup then that's different and the F9 won't be available.
