Windows Explorer crashing when downloading NEF files from media card

I have been able to download RAW & JPEG files from my D810 media card direct to "My Pictures" folder using Windows Explorer without a hitch. Never had a problem since I got the D810 when it was released.

Not been using RAW for a few months, but did so over the last few days and all of a sudden when I try to download NEF's, Explorer throws up the "Stopped working" message and will not download.

JPEG's still download normally provided and I can download NEF's using PSE13 Organiser (which I prefer to avoid).

Anyone got any ideas why Windows Explorer is now baulking at my NEF files.

Perhaps a Windows update has change something, but I cannot find anything that can verify that.

PC is running W7 64 bit professional.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks Gramps, I'll give these a try and post my findings tomorrow.

I have just set my camera up to store NEF's in one card slot and JPEG's in the other.

Gramps, you are a top man. I downloaded the most recent of the two downloads in your link and it solved the problem. Happiness has returned.
