Another vote for CanonBob and his Encyclopedia like knowledge.
 
Slightly embarrassing but I think I must be the only user on here that's never heard of CanonBob. Maybe it's because my Nikon bias is blind to his advice. I'll have to hunt down some of his posts because he sounds like a very helpful guy.

My vote would have to go to Yv because of all the hard work she put in to organising the TP convention. Unfortunately I was unable to make it due to work committments but I read about how successful it was.

Other on the shortlist for me would be:
Diddy Dave - Never helped me out specifically but he seems to be a font of knowledge.
Cowasaki - I have downloaded his script thingy and I use it all the time.
Marcel - Well it goes without saying, this place wouldn't be here without him.
Whitey - Just because he's the one I got my 70-200mm f2.8 from and I love it, love it, love it.
 
HoppyUK for me.

Lot long after joining TP I lost the use of my right arm/hand and posted a thread asking for ideas on how I could best manage.

Out of the blue HoppyUK offered to send me (with no charge) a Manfrotto 322RC2 head. He even took the time to convert it to left handed before sending.
 
FITP....read somewhere recently that a company tried to raffled off a really nice car to one of it's employees....drawn from a group that had the highest attendance records....
some whinging tarts decided it was unfair because of..I've got this, stubbed my toe...etc...so the management pulled the whole prize draw out of frustration.
you can't even do nice things sometimes without someone cocking it up!

from the above, canonbob, I admit is always willing to wade in with advice and frankly it's spot on imho.
 
I'd like to nominate Kerioak. This is for all the helpful PM's and tips she has given me recently and helped me build and keep my confidence high to start offering TFP shoots.

I will give my vote to Canon Bob aswell, altough there are many members that could get a vote from me Bob stands out this year for me as being most helpful to me when he didn't have to be, he didn't have to get involved but went of of his way, took his own time and put time aside to help me (a complete stranger)

I won't mention what it was about but Bob will know and its something I was greatful for at the time and still am today
 
For me it is SPxxxx (Simon) for consitant and helpful crit (plus general advice), especially around wedding pics. Closely followed by Alib, for one single peice of advice that made a HUGE difference to our studio business.
 
What about that Obama bloke, he has just bought a $60 compact to shoot with (He seems to like shooting, now he is in charge), he says whatever he wins, he will put it on the mantlepiece next to the Nobel bits and Peace prize.

What a wonderful gesture Graham, true TP spirit in action once again. I have to confess that I'd completely missed the thread but with the excuse that I was travelling for some of its lifespan.

I've had a butchers at Graham's offerings and decided to try my hand with a round 80cm reflector and a shoot through brolley...neither of which features in my cupboard at this time....PM to follow Graham

Grrrrrrr this thread completely sidestepped me, had I seen it I would have performed some extremely cunning and stealthy edits in order to snag a softbox kit :D

Canonbob is a fantastic bloke, he bought a wireless shutter release from ebay for me because I don't have an account, he is and will always be a top bloke in my book and a most deserving winner.

FITP, you have chosen well :thumbs:
 
Glad this thread was re-erected as I missed the final outcome.

Well pleased that Bob won and whilst there are many people who could have qualified I genuinely believe it was the right result.

Thanks for all the kind words folks.

The brollies and reflector arrived this morning....it took me around five minutes to get the stuff out and then smack myself in the face when the reflector got aggressive as it emerged from its pouch....I'll give it a try when the swelling subsides :'(
