Firstly, I don't like tennis, I find it dull and boring but I do like snooker, which a lot of people find dull and boring. However this is not about either sport, I suppose it's more of a technical question:

When it comes to Wimbledon or the snooker World Championship, BBC1 and BBC2 normal schedules are severely modified to include the long, long coverage of these sports. Is there a technical reason why the BBC can't use the BBC3 and BBC4 channels which sit apparently idle during daylight hours?

What annoyed me more is I have been watch "Sherwood" on BBC 1
Monday night I set it to record only to find I had wimbledon recorded instead as the had moved the series to
BBC2 !!
Why couldn't they just shift the end of wimbledon to BBC2 >

The most annoying thing with the tennis coverage is the channel hopping! Even during a match they will swop from channel to channel, gets on my wick!

I don’t watch snooker so I don’t know if they channel hop during that?

we watch the tennis on iPlayer, far easier :)

That's exactly what I said when we sat down to watch Sherwood last night. I was waiting for them to say that Wimbledon coverage would continue on BBC2. Thank gawd for iPlayer!

Yes I can’t stand tennis either unfortunately my other half does and is watching it, does seem to be on for hours  :$

still I’ve got my man cave and also go out with the camera

I watch all the BBC through the iplayer app so can't see why it matters

Yes, they do, big time! Although my subscription is up at the moment, I tend to watch all my snooker on Eurosport as the BBC will happily end a broadcast game at a crucial time because of Eastenders or some other puerile world class television.

I wonder if its a contractual thing. The BBC will pay Wimbledon/LTA to host the coverage and that might be a requirement to show it on the 2 main channels.

Wimbledon should pay the BBC to show it...and I should be paid to watch it -- it's the only way I would. It's fortunate Wimbledon is played on grass because when I want to see something exciting, I can always watch it grow :)

Make it PPV, costs me to watch the rugby all season so why not other sports?

How many hours does that dancing crap occupy in its many guises.

Wimbledon any time for me, really miss Cricket test match coverage on the BBC too

I suppose each to his own, actually I rather like the dancing stuff and my comments on tennis could apply to anyone talking about any sport they don't like much. But then if we were all the same it would be a very dull world.

I too used to watch test cricket on terrestrial TV. When did it stop? 2005 ish? Then Sky, in their usual grabby manner took it over and charged a minority of the population a large quantity of money to watch it instead. They did the same with F1, and the rugby world cup -- until the RFU realised their mistake and brought it back to the great unwashed again.

You've got that the wrong way round. You should be asking why do I have to pay for rugby when other sports are free, instead of make everything PPV you should be saying make everything free.

Not enough hours in the day or channels to show all sport, so specialised channels are required, what I pay for my subscription wouldn't cover one away trip, but we get all the games from all the teams, besides, I don't watch football, tennis, cricket etc, so my wife is kept happy with her normal viewing,at least when it's not interrupted by some sport.

I do pay Dorna about £170 a year to watch MotoGP but these days it is one of only two subscriptions after I dumped Netflix (because they would have used that money to pay Megan bloody Markel and James Hewitt's son, Harry. I also lost Eurosport because they lumped it in with Discovery+ -- a channel devoted in part to 'ghost hunting' programs and 'relationship' series, things I particularly couldn't care less about but would have to pay for. My other subscription is to Amazon but getting free postage on next day deliveries pays my subscription fee ten times over since I buy almost everything non-food from Jeff Bezos and his cronies (not camera gear, I use LCE for that).

Wow, I get Premier sports channels (3 off) for £90, rugby, nascar, speedway, Aussie v8s and more.

Yes, MotoGP is not cheap. What you can do though is see every MotoGP race as far back as the nineties though and the old races are every bit as good as the modern ones. I do it for the convenience of being able to watch the races as and when I like as there is a spoiler-free page so I can watch it seemingly 'live' any time I'm ready. The only alternative is to watch it on BT Sport and since I'm on Sky Broadband this isn't a viable option.

Can you watch Moto GP on a smart tv in your living room?

Yes, I cast it either from my phone or my PC.
