Will we be able to keep warm this winter ?

Yes. And as much as I hate the typical inefficiencies and wastage of nationalised industries, it seems to me that there are some types of service industries that really should be nationalised, in the public interest, with benefits going to public owners not to private shareholders, and with government options to control prices.
Has privatisation of any of the large nationalised industries, British Gas, BT, British Rail etc etc been shown to have brought long term advantages to their customers and the country ?
As I have intimated earlier, privatisation of British Gas has taken what was once a World leading exponent of large sale gas transmission networks into a
'bit part' collection of companies and networks with very little protection of supplies and no protection from volatility of price rises.
I look on with sadness at what was once a proud company run by top class engineers. I follow their decline from the security of my British Gas final salary pension. ;)

Depends what you're burning and how efficient your burner is.

This ^ and it even highlights such in the article.

Our burner is Energy Rated A and has clearSkies Certification Level 5. We only use kiln dried Silver Birch and I always check the logs for moisture content and they are usually between 5-7%. We also get it up to temperature fast and keep it hot which all gives for a cleaner burn.

I suppose the problem is responsible people ensuring similar to the above? I'm not sure about open fires and how they are measured/treated?
