Will this transmitter fit on a canon camera?

My fiance and I have a set of Yongnuo rf-602 wireless triggers, and the transmitter is designed for a Nikon hot shoe mount... I'm now using a Canon camera (550d)... is it safe to put the transmitter on top of these cameras without risking the electronics?

(Sorry if my question doesn't make sense, I don't understand lighting equipment myself and am just going by what my fiance tells me)

I wouldn't risk screwing up the electrical on a Canon with a NIKON fit item speak to manufacturer before trying.

If I remember correctly, if you are triggering a flash the pins are different so flash no worky but if you are triggering another camera it'll work ok.

I think it will fire okay off the central pin, but you'll lose the wake-up facility.

It'll work fine and won't damage the camera in any way whatsoever. The only downside, as Richard notes, is that you lose the wake-up facility if you're using a Canon flashgun and you might notice a slight reduction in sync speed, but it's perfectly safe.

Just in case you're wondering I've used Canon-fit Rf602s on my Nikons and Nikon-fit ones on my Panasonic Gf-1 without any problems....

Yes, I think that's right about the sync speed Graham.

Canons sync off the E-TTL contacts which fire slightly ahead of the central pin, but will default to the central pin when necessary - as is the case here. The difference is about 1ms, which translates to 1/3rd of a stop, eg 1/160sec instead of 1/200sec.

I tried it once, using two transmitters on different channels and two receivers triggering two guns, one out of the hot shoe and the other out of the PC socket (which is same timing as the central pin) you get a double image on fast moving subjects.

I've used my Nikon RF602's on Canon and my GF1 without any problems and just kept my shutter speed on the Canon below 1/200.

Thanks for the replies. I tried it out and it did indeed work. :D
