On Ebay there is a nice Canon 80-200mm F/4.5-5.6 EF II Telephoto Zoom Lens at a very reasonable buy it now. My main camera is a 90D but I am also messing around with film and have a nice original EOS650 film camera. Will this lens work with this camera?

Sounds like an old kit lens (some kits came with a wide zoom and a telephoto zoom). AFAIK, as long as it's an EF fitting rather the EF-S, it's suitable for full frame (including 35mm film) Canon EOS bodies.

Yes; EF is EF, whether film or digital.

And unlike other brands where some lenses will fit but not work properly. Canon change the mount to ensure you can’t mount a lens that’s not 100% compatible.

The question I have is - do you not already have a telephoto lens to use on your 90D (or is it an EF-S telephoto).

If it is EF-S then you'll already know if won't work on EF..

I have a 2016 era Pentax digital SLR with the most recent lenses (15-30, 24-70 and 70-200 D-FA/D-FA*) which work pretty well on my 1984 vintage Pentax P50 SLR (non-autofocus camera) but only on Tv and Programme. I don't have any non-AF Pentax lenses...

I can guarantee it'll work on your EOS650 as I have one here that I've just removed from my late father's camera bag which also houses his EOS1000F.
