somebody dear to me kindly gave me an old manual/film fujica stx-1 that was his fathers before he passed away 3 years ago,it has a range of lenses and a hot shoe flash,it is all the most immaculate condition and was much cherished.i feel very lucky to have been given it considering the sentimental value it has.Would anybody know if the hot shoe would fit my camera (550d).It does fit on and my camera seems to recognize it as it wont let me use the built in flash while its on.The thing is it needs 2AA batterys and i havnt got any in.Im also scared to try it in case i upset my camera(550d)im a complete novice see and this is all very knew to me.I was going to buy one anyway,but not for a while(few weeks) as i have other priortys at the moment.
any feedback would be appreciated

Don't do it you may fry your electronics as the trigger voltage maybe really high as it is sometimes with these old guns . Get some cheap wireles triggers and use it off camera a fried trigger is cheaper than a fried camera if it goes wrong .
