I Have a Conon 30D, with a Canon 100-400 IS AF lens, fantastic combination! I recently bought the 2x converter, and now the AF doesn't work, I have been told that it will on the 1.4 converter. Can anyone clarify this?
A 30D will not AF with less than f/5.6 so the short answer is no. Some teleconverters don't tell the camera they are there, at which point the camera will still try to AF but it will be slow and innaccurate in all but superb light.
As the others have said the answer is no I'm afraid, but if you get the 1.4 Tc you get the great joy of having to manual focus ( no, no I mean it), and there is little impact on the IQ
