I'm thinking of picking up a ticket for this year's Wildscreen Photo Festival event at the Royal Geographical Society in London. It's not the cheapest day out so before I commit I was wondering if anyone been in previous years and if so, what did you think of it?

24-26 Oct.

It's the expensive part that made me ask before I commit...

I went last year for the first time, despite the cost. I think the format has changed this year, but last year if you wanted to go to one of the workshops - which cost extra - you had to miss the lectures that were scheduled for that time but still pay for them. I was very frustrated that none of the speakers I tried to speak to were interested in conversation. I think they were all plugging their own stuff or setting up deals , or hobnobbing with each other.

Having said that the talks and photographs were of a very high standard. If you click on their website now they have firmed the programme up a bit.

Wish I could go. Seems very worthwhile but...

- Expensive
- At university then anyway.

:(
Much my thoughts, except substitute university with 'away that week'

I have heard this too

Good enough to for you to consider going back?

I'll be there on the Saturday. If anyone else is going I'll try to say hello.

So I went and it was a blast. The talks were great; photograph after photograph that inspired and a lot to take away to ponder about. I think five of them were by people who have photos in this year's WPotY. Plus I managed to network a bit during the intermissions (but not with any of the speakers; I didn't try so I can't confirm or refute Jerry's complaint) .

So despite the cost I can see myself returning for both days next year.
