Hello All

I've owned a Panasonic GH1 With a 14-140mm, 100-300mm and now a Sigma 50-500mm. Unfortunately this isn't right for me.
Not only is the Panasonic GH1 no longer right for me to use in Wildlife due to the lack on lenses, but also because the SIGMA won't work with the GH1 with the 4/3rds to Micro 4/3rd's because of Panasonic Restrictions.

So i want to move onto a Nikon or Canon for sure, something with maybe a little higher megapixels.. than the GH1.

My Budget Will hopefully be around £1500 (Average) if i sell all of it at a good price..

So can you help to find me the right camera and Lens? Whats your views and opinions, it's greatly appreciated.

Alex

You might just be able to get yourself a Canon 7D and a Sigma 150-500 for that budget with some judicious secondhand haggling.

You could get a D90 and a sigma 150-500 OS HSM for that. I was just looking at that lens on Satuday while my D90 was strapped to my side.

For 1500 quid you can get a pretty nice setup if you only want one longer lens for now.

Thanks
Rick

I had a quick try of a 150-500 sigma today, certainly bang for bucks, I just couldn't get near anything at a small wetland area with my 70-200, at 500 the sigma still delivers.

Crikey, £1500 would get you some good second hand kit if you wanted to go that way!

There seems to be a few bodies floating around on Ebay for £600+

I don't know about Canon (:schtum:) but for that money you could get a D300 and the sigma 150-500 with some dosh left over for a shorter general lens.

MPB have a couple of the Sigma's for £639. They also have a D90 for £469

If you look about there are several well respected s/h dealers around who will also give some sort of waranty on the goods (I am not advocating MPB but have been happy with the service I had from them )

That lens with either the D300 or D90 will give a decent setup for wildlife.

HTH

Nick
