Yes
Does anyone know of any good locations for macro-work (mainly wildflowers and bugs) around the north east. I know about upper teesdale, which is excellent, but would appreciate any advice on others.
Thanks, Mark.

There is a real good place in Alston mate.
Its a farm where there is no public access ( I have permission on it for pest control and photo's of course ).
There is another great place at Haltwhistle / coanwood , same situation limited public access so a lot of undisturbed creepys and plants .

I used to have an agricultural pest control business so I have some good locations all round our area.
If I can help you out just give me a shout.

I fancy getting into the Macro stuff more seems I have a good supply of subjects...
I was hoping a good macro man could assist me with my prob's
The old question I know but I would like some advice before I spend more money..

Hmmm, Messian Kahn would probally know some good locations his macro stuff is great and he said that he visits some reserves and stuff. I find just going to a small patch of rough and just waiting see what you find is nice. But unfortunately i have no ideas for place myself.

Bishop Middleham Quarry in Durham, Hauxley Nature reserve, Northumberland. Harthope Valley in the Cheviots, Holy Island, and Druridge Bay dunes and reserves. all will serve your purpose over the next few months.

regards brian.

:) As cuddy says, Bishop Middleham Quarry is pretty good. Rainton Meadows is also pretty good, or I should say was last year, since last time i went a few weeks ago there wasn't much about. One of the best places I found last year though was Easington Colliery. The whole coast along there is magnesium limestone so is superb for flowers, insects and butterflies etc. This year seems a bit duff though tbh. I think the weather has meant that everything is running late. A Bit of good, sunny warm weather should hopefully improve things. :)

Edit; Woops, the laptop was still logged in as Sarah.
