Hi all
has anyone ever used a "Nikula" High Quality Fully Multi-Coated Glass Lens
15-30X Zoom Spotting Scope?
i was wondering if it would be any good for wild life shots and maybe for some shots of the moon?
or is it like the price suggests?
any advice please

Haven't found any reference to this but judging by the other offerings I wouldn't waste your money. Unfortunately there are no cheap options to getting long focal lengths, with Sigma offering the best value for money in the 400mm plus stakes.

i am thinking of checking out buying this lens ."Nikula" High Quality Fully Multi-Coated Glass Lens
15-30X Zoom Spotting Scope
It says it is 30x maginfication , but then if you look closly (and this is not advertised) it then states ON the actual lens itself "30-50" so it may be really 50x i will check it out, and it is small but green with that classic extended mm design but slightly thinner in build. It is possible to extend the manification from 30 to 90x buying a secon hand 3x converter lens that can conect to this telescope designed for any imaging device from camcorders to digital cameras not just SLR''s for about £25 on ebay for said 3x. and like i pointed out and i am still looking into is that it may be 50x mags and that would make a very good Sunagor look a like at 150x mag. it is hong kong shipping a far as i can see and that means if you have to have paypal though in order to buy it. i shall check about for any where else selling in the UK they may be about £105 to buy but it is hard to reach high mag X on a slr, and the best i have seen is Nipons super effert holding the record on spotting scope at a woping 125x and SLR adapter for nikon, canon ect can be brought for this using a 1.25 adapter from £30. or you ill have to take your chances with a Sunagor 160x binoculars but you will have to but a digiscope usb adapter seperatly in order to record the event through sunagors super pot shots 160x. worth mentioning ONLY PANASONIC MAKE THE HIGHEST MAGNIFICATION OF CAMCORDER AT 78X OPTICAL MOST ARE BETWEEN 16 AND 24X THATS AROUND 1200MM ON PHOTOGRAPHYS MATHMATICS. AND THEY DO NOT MAKE SAID CAMCORDERS ANYMORE AND 78X OPTICALS BELIEVE IT OR NOT AND ARE NOW OFFICIALY A THING OF THE PAST AND NO ONE HAS CAME NEAR THAT STRENTH OF MAGNIFICATION . ONLY FOUR MODELS MADE WAS THE PANASONIC SDR T55, SDR H85, SDR H100 AND THE SLIGHTLY CHEAPER VERSION THE SDR S50. THEY WAS MADE FOR AROUND 2 YEARS. BRING FORWARD THE DAY THE WORLDS FIRST OPTICAL 100X OPTICAL CAMCORDER ARRIVES I CANNOT WAIT BUT IN THE MEAN TIME JUST PLACE A 2X TELEPHOTO CONVERTER ON YOUR CAMCORDER TO INCREASE THE MAGS TWICE, I KNOW WHEN YOU ARE OOMING OUT WITH THIS LENS 2X ADAPTED IT WILL LACK WIDE ANGLE ON RECAL, BUT UNTIL SAID DAY ARRIVES YOU WILL JUST HAVE TO BE QUICK AND REMOVE THE 2X LENS VRY QUICKLY FOR PICTURE EFFECT PURPOSESS IN DEMONSTRATION MODE RECORDED FOR POSE OR PERSONAL ARCHIVE. i can imagine spotting scopes going up in the near future to 140x, and sunagor extending there exclusive rights they bid and paid for to be able to manfactur the world highest magnification oom binocularsm taking it from 160x to 170 or maybe 175x in the near future and bargained at only £250 are quite a good investment for such noval exclusive far distance caperble capturing piece or aperatus. you could buy a 1000mm mirror lens for a reasonerbl price and ad a 3x too treble it to 3000mm for as low as £150 , , 3000mm is going to be around70x? magnification . or just get a 115x econemy spotting scope from LUVi for around £75 ,and put your Slr throgh that as you canot buy a 5000mm lens for no where near that amount of money and maybe 115x is higher than 5000mm. in magnification . i have seen £65 camcorder record a clear image so these high powed spotting scpes are not going distort the long range shot, they are clear images, just keep it on a tripod to stop it shaking and use a remote where possible, and you will not go far wrong, or just walk up to the subject like we mostly do and forget about what i have just mentioned to gain magnification. Magnifiation is limited to 55 mile horizon, so you can see where it is all going to end. all this magnification race, as the earh curves after about 55 miles and that is as far a the eye can see as anything beyond 55 miles approx is hidden in earths dip.
