Wild Britain
Now on until 1st July 2007

Ben Hall is rapidly developing a reputation as one of the UK's best young wildlife photographers. In this, his first major exhibition, you will see the outstanding quality of his pictures of Britain's wildlife and also learn something of the craft of nature photography.

For the Wild Britain exhibition, The Manchester Museum is delighted to be working in partnership with both the Manchester City Council's Environmental Awareness Team and Blackwell's University Bookshop.

Mixed in with the photo's are stuffed animals which your encouraged to stroke - I thought that was a bit strange, but the guy who gave us a tour of the pictures really new everything about the animals in the pictures, the places they where taken and what equiptment was used

You'll see some of Ben's work in the photo mags too.
If you want to see some of his work have a look at his website.

He also runs workshops which can be quite a valuable experience to all photographers.

What a superb website!

For anyone interested, Ben Hall is the guest speaker for the opening night of Stockport Photograpic Society's exhibition - this Saturday (24th March 2007) at the Stockport Art Gallery (on the A6 next to Stockport College), 7.30pm kick off. Entry fee is £3

nbt ...

I am based in Altrincham so I may well pop down and have a look round. Be good to hear Ben Hall - as his work is amazing. Would also be good to have a chat with some local photographers.

Look out for the big Geordie lad!

See you there.

Did anyone go to this talk last night?

In the end, I (foolishly) decided to go and support my country in their Euro campaign!

Talk about bad decisions!!

Just wondered if there was any feedback on Ben's talk?

Paid a visit to the exhibition today as a direct result of reading this thread..

It is a superb show. What was most inspiring for me was most of the shots were taken on the 100-400 lens and not the second mortgage 500 f4.

Thanks for the original link, without it going on here I would never have known about it.

I'm even considering one of Ben's work shops later in the year.

Cheers

I thought about that too Trev, seems to have some good stuff coming up.

Let me know if you decide to go on anything.

From what I have read previously in Photo mags and on the web, they seem to be very worthwhile and excellent value for money.

Any idea how long the exhibition is on at the art gallery for?

Hi Trev.

Well deduced - I am indeed an exiled Geordie, currently living in Altrincham.

I quite fancied the macro/butterfly one or the seal pups.

Think I will drop him a little email myself to get things moving!

Howay the lads!

Anth.
