Just bought a Sigma 10-20 for my D80 and I got to say I'm in love with it

Taking photos with it though seems to need a totally different way of shooting. I know it's a case of getting used to seeing things from a different view point but does anyone have any suggestions or tips for getting the best from a wide angle?

watch that tilt!!
i feel wide angles were really designed to take...wide angles
can be used to do exagerrated tilted shots...
soaring verticals i believe is the term
do some really well thought out landscapes...tripod, sannys, dog, rucksack, times, and plenty of time
no more pano's....just what i would like

you will however get an abundance of sky and or earth in the shot...it can be overpowering unless you crop or print a more letterbox format

distortion at close quarters is another well used toy but i dont like to see it in exagerrated forms..

best of luck

I love my Sigma 10-20 (just as well as it's the only lens I have left now after an unfortunate accident involving my open camera bag and a waterfall  ). Just have fun and experiment with it. I love doing landscapes from a low angle. Just don't get your feet in the shot!

Foreground interest is a must, I find that my 1020 just makes it look "over there" landscape wise, unless I include some strong foreground interest to give the picture some balance. :)

Thanks for the tips so far. Looks like I have a bit of adjusting to do from taking pic with the 18-135mm Nikon. I have noticed that size 12 feet like making an appearance :D Looking forward to the new challenge. I just need to get time to go out and give it a proper try. Fingers crossed from the weekend
