I have a canon 40D body and a prime lens. I`m looking to buy a wide angle zoom lens. I`ll be using it for portraits, candid, street shots and possibly landscapes.
Any ideas for a lens that will be suitable for these needs? Something with IS would be preffered.
Bare in mind I can only go up to £350. max.
Any advice greatly apreciated.

Something like the Canon EFS-17-85mm IS lens is a handy zoom range and you should be able to find it within your budget.

For extra width (no IS but doesn't matter this wide) is the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM. This (new) might be a little bit over your budget but lots of second hand ones crop up within your budget.

I use both the above on a 40D and find them fine.

Good luck.

How about a Tamron 17-50 F2.8. Pretty certain that would come within budget and people on here that have them really do rate them.
