Why photographer?

Which photographer do you prefer?

Not heard of either of them, so my vote goes to Steve Bloom.
 
I think we need a bit more explanation into the question asked as there must be some sort of reason why. All photographers at some stage or other take a bad photo but usually delete them. So judging one against the other is really futile .
It also depends on what each specialise in photographically wise .One for example may take fantastic portraits and rubbish at wildlife and visa versa for the other . Here again you might like one picture by a photographer but hate another by the same person

No harm in Adam asking questions infact one way to learn, but asking sensible more pointed questions would be beneficial to him I think.

I think people would consider me a concieted arse if I was my favourite photographer in a world where Sebastaio Salgado and Steve McCurry* are still working.

* and thousands of others.
 
"Prefer" isn't a very exact word. If PhotographerA photographed only cute kittens (but did so very, very badly) and PhotographerB photographed only spiders (but did so very, very well) I'd "prefer" PhotographerA solely on the basis of liking their subject matter, but still regard PhotographerB as better. If this was the pair you'd chosen, my vote would go to A, but you wouldn't know why; nor would you know that I thought B was the better photographer.

It's not preferences per se that matter surely so much as which do you think is the better photographer and WHY. The "WHY" being the most important part.
 
This seems a very strange thread for new member to post.
 
What is the title "why photographer" rather than "which photographer". I thought the topic of the thread was going to be why are photographers called photographers?
