Happy new year everyone
why oh why won't it work.Got a new 550d for Christmas.Loaded the software on to my laptop, took pic in RAW downloaded it to Picasa which I use as storage library but can't open it in photoshop elements 8. Think I 'm up to date with updates but can't open. Has anybody any ideas before ARMAGEDON or I sell it as used
 
Make sure you elements updated - fi on the adobe website to see which is the latest, although the 550D isn't a new body so it should be featured.

Why not open the shots in DPP, which comes with the camera? It's a great raw editor and its free
 
just learning all about this new game that we play[if pos],what do I do with all the files in picasa [ditch um],will the canon stuff run with photo elements, as my old camera was the 1000d with that software thought I could just uninstall that,intsall the new 550 and everything would just fall into place, all these questions.

You need the 5.7 camera raw update for the 550d it wasn't covered in the earlier updates.
 
cant help with that but i have a 550 field guide you can have if you like, no use to me as i no longer have a 550d
 
Have you tried opening directly with PSE8 rather than Picasa? And do you use a card reader? If not, it may be worth a try. Another alternative is to get the free .dng converter from Adobe.
 
I think the only thing iv'e not tried at the moment is a card reader.Not had a lot luck with everything else all youv'e suggested everyone but not given up hope yet,[picasa] do very easy hdr add on or update just to make one think is it worth it,all the hassel with photoshop
