Why is the same photo different file size???

Have been trying out a new camera app on my iPhone - I read that a few apps on manual settings are limited to 12mp. Dont think this was... but took a pic using the app and it was 12mp, 4032x3024 2mb. with the native app 24mp, 5712x4284 3mb. Also took one using the new app (Fjorden) using auto and that was 12mp too (same as the manual pic)??

I am keen to find an app that allows more manual inputs than the native app but not so keen if the size is affected.

Reeflex is what I use.

It supports 48MP on my Phone (iPhone 14 Pro) but only on the standard lens (Wide). Ultrawide and Telephone are 12MP. This is a limitation of Apple.

As above it depends which lens you're using. On the 14 pro only the main camera/lens has the full resolution, on the 16 pro both wide angle and standard have full resolution, the telephotos have lower resolution.
