I've had a camera of sorts now for well over, well lets just say a number of years from Film ---- ----- ----- -----> Digital. Still have my old pentax, not used now though, collecting dust somewhere in a long forgotten draw, but I digress.

I'm presently using a p&s samsung, and to be honest it hasn't been too bad, but now, and I'm not sure why exactly, I've decided to buy myself a NEW dSLR. :D

I'm now at the point where I have the age old problem of what to choose, so I've joined this forum, hopefully to bend a few ears. From what I've seen so far this forum seems it could be the perfect place to do just that.

Onwards & upwards

Well first ,Welcome to the forum, second the most often given answer to That question is to get yourself down to Jessop's or any camera shop (if you can find one these days) and try a few in the hand to get a feel of them.

Mainly these days it swings between Nikon and Canon,
Although there are other good brands these are the top 2 and they have a heck of a lot of choice in lenses.
They are in my opinion as good as each other so it will be the operating (menu) system that suits you that will decide,I would poop over to the Basics forum and ask there,as not many members come here :nono::suspect: so you will be able o chat about the pro's and con's of cameras.
Welcome again.
