Why have I got duplicate images?

I have just finished a studio shoot and on downloading to Lightroom find that every image I have taken has a duplicate and not jpegs. They are numbered _MG_1234.cr3 and then _MG_1234 1.cr3. Please note the 1 after the second image number. Don't know what I have done. Any ideas? I have a EOS 90D.

On the surmise that there are no duplicates on the memory card, then a setting in the LR import?

Sometimes the answer becomes obvious.........not sure I thought there was a setting in LR import to not create duplicates :thinking:
 
I guess you need to have it turned on in the first place. I shall check later, but yes you are right. Thanks to all .... relieved! :)
