Yes
I went into boots to get this picture printed off at 6x4,But when i got the photo it cut the top half of the hat off like in the second picture. If i load the first picture in lightroom and then when i export the picture and choose 6x4 as the size i want it doesn't cut off the top part like it does in the second picture.

I have no idea......... but i like the hat !!!!!

Just been told there is a message on the machine saying the machine crops to the centre,So maybe thats why it took the top part off.

Very good answer why didn't i think of it like that cheers:thumbs:

When i export my finished photo is there any need to resize to 6x4 as you can select that at the photoshop ie boots,Or does resizing in lightroom make the picture better quality?

Ok will do that from now on,Will also change to 300dpi think its set to 240.

Cheers

Thanks,Its at the Kiosk but after its on the machine it then gets sent upstairs where it gets printed by a real person..

I used boots Kodak machine once and it was not good at all being Kodak i thought it would be better then boots doing the photos but the paper that comes out of the kodak machine is just cheap and not even glossy paper,So now on i let boots do the photos.

Have a look HERE

Cheers,Looks like a good and easy guide to follow,Will check that out later when i get home:)

Strange., It should be gloss coming out of a kiosk. The printer inside the kiosk is a dye sublimation photo printer. I am assuming the print you got done was run through a wet process lab.

Well im not sure if other Kodak machines use gloss paper but this one doesn't you can tell its different paper all together,Im not sure how boots do their prints. Ill look into this and see if i can find out.

In a proper mini lab you have a choice how to print via a kiosk, instant print (dye sub) or through Fuji Frontier (or whatever lab is used) onto real photographic paper, most Boots run Fuji Frontiers as well as dye sub kiosks.

The kiosks that have popped up in Smiths, shopping centres, dry cleaners, Post Offices etc are dye sub.

Yes that seems right, you have done your order via a kiosk terminal and it has gone through a traditional lab method, using something like a lustre finish paper.

Yes Joan, I was surpised to see WHSmiths with the kiosks , the one I saw was a PhotoMe unit, with a passport booth at the one end and a print unit on the other for standard photo printing.

That said some dye subs are capable of printing a lustre finish using the same stock print media, it passes under the thermal head for an extra run and it takes the edge off the laminate coating. Sony perfected it , followed by Mitsubsihi and DNP.

Cheers for the info:)

Found out that the Kodak machine uses Matte paper where boots use glossy.
