Hi,

Although this doesnt bother me i would really like to know...

Why is it on most digital cameras you can see a live picture of what you are about to take whereas on a D-SLR you cant, well at least you cant on my 350d.

Quite a pointless question

Answers would be greatly appreciated

The 1D mk3 has this feature although you cant autofocus when its enabled. Basically its because the sensor is hidden behind a mirror and a real shutter, consumer digital cameras the sensor is always open and just activated electronically.

Basically because looking through the lens is a far better way of taking a photo. Sure there's technical issues but the moment I got my first DSLR and looked through that view finder, I was sold.

One of the largest reasons for me buying a dSLR over another bridge camera was the viewfinder.

its no different to the older film cameras, just with an electrical sensor as opposed to film
