Only a quick Googling but it seems that so called Fuzzy Pears are a variety of Quince

Funnily enough I've just been speaking to a old guy on the allotments near me and he said that most Pear trees are grown on Quince root stock and sometimes a shoot from the root stock can cause furry Pears , I looked this up and it seemed to be true but a little baffling to me as surely if it was off the Quince root stock it would be Quince rather than a Pear. That said he said there fine to eat which was the main worry. More Pies on the way !

Quince root stock it would be Quince rather than a Pear.
Lots of ( hard) plants and fruit trees are grown on "root stock" possibly more than you would imagine.
A head or scion is grafted onto substantial and hardy "other"
That way many plants can be produced quickly and cheaply.

Lots of acers are grafted, as are wisteria.

Are these fuzzy pear fruits big and kinda irregularly shaped? Do they have a lovely perfume? I'd google quince and gear yourself up for making quince jam & jelly. YUM!

Definitely quince, you can see the flower at the bottom and knobbly too!

I just did a search for Quince and was amazed at how Pear like they can be I had always thought Quinces ( for no real reason) to be very small !
