Been away a while and not sure if i`m posting in the right section but who here shoots weddings?

My main thing is Motorsport. I`ve never done a wedding before but i`m going to a friends wedding in about a months time. I`m not going as the "wedding photographer" but still want to have a real good shot at doing the very best I can. He did ask if I wanted to do it but I refused as didnt want to take the chance I might mess it up completely! He has now booked a proper wedding photographer but has still asked me to be there as an unofficial photographer, partly so he can get some extra pictures and also to give me a chance of getting the experience.

The current gear I have......
5D
7D
550D
5D3
Canon 70-200mm 2.8 is mkII
Canon 20-105mm f/4
Canon 50mm f1.4
Sigma 150-500mm (cant see much use for this one!)
Two Nissin 866 flashlights
3 Yongnuo triggers

I have been looking at getting a new lens in the next couple of weeks but having trouble deciding what to go for. Looking towards some sort of medium range prime like the 100mm 2.8 or 85mm 1.8. Have also thinking of upgrading the 7D to something with better IQ, maybe the 7D2 as I have heard some good things about it.

My question is what advice can the experienced wedding shooters offer and also what would be the best equipment to use on the day.

Thanks in advance for any help / advice! :)

You need some wide and fast to compliment your existing glass imo, a 35mm 1.4 maybe.

If you've never done a wedding before, my best advice would be to keep things as simple as possible on the gear front. I'd be inclined to take the 70-200 on one body and a fast wide zoom on the other. Leave the flashes at home unless the pro's going to be gone before the dancing, in which case you get to play with them then if you're still sober.

Above all though, liaise with the pro ASAP on the day and find out how best to avoid buggering up what the couple are paying for.
