Yes
Everyone knows ken rockwell and i use his website occasionally but i take his opinions with a pinch of salt. i was wondering who others use and trust for reviews of gear?
There are many and it's difficult to know who to take seriously. i want to review some wide angle lenses for nikon fx but lots of reviews i read give lots of technical info and then their opinion which amounts to them basically saying "this is awesome" and that's it.

where do you go?

Photography life is my go to source. I read Ken, but ignore his outlandish sweeping statements

Photozone is pretty good for quality comparable reviews. I like Ken if you read past the headlines he is usually right!

Use the ones also mentioned. I also use dxomark and I like to watch digitalrev videos.

Photozone and DP Review. Fred Miranda also has a lens review section, which consists of members input.

I like Thom Hogan and i find his books 2 so far ive read D750 and D7200 brilliant.
of course only nikon and some mirrorless reviews

For analytical style tests I look at photozone as already mentioned and another one called lenstip.

For users opinion Fred and Miranda reviews are good.

Bryan at the digital picture provides a great resource, mainly canon though I think.

Proper reviews in all honestly I google like mad and find the blog posts by Semi pros far better than the Ken Rockwell types...

Another vote for Thom Hogan, he's not afraid to speak his mind.

Photography life. DXO, DPR, camera labs and photozone are good for stats, but photography life gives good unbiased (imo) real life reviews.

I think there are quite a few site you can go to for technical reviews but very often they just don't cover the things I'm interested in for example is auto ISO available in manual mode? Can I use exposure compensation? Can I set minimum and maximum settings etc... I see these as very basic things but they're hardly ever mentioned. Actually one technical aspect I get a bit frustrated with on the various review is the ISO performance testing which is often (IMO) completely and utterly useless. Want to see high ISO shots taken in good light at very fast shutter speeds? Well, no actually I don't because in such good light I'll be using a much lower ISO :D

Other than finding most reviews don't cover the things I'm interested in I like Steve Huff but of course he only reviews kit he likes, David Thorpe is good but again mostly these people don't seem to cover the basic user points I'd like covered. Thom Hogan and Luminous Landscape are often good reads too but I haven't found any site yet which consistently gives the information and answers I'm looking for.

I'm not keen on cameralabs. I get what's to me an avalanche of irrelevance, l non of the questions I want answering answered and as far as I can see his ISO tests are worthless.

Ah, Ken Rockwell, the man who, every lens or camera he picks up, is quite honestly the best he's ever used and is his go to kit...

He's a useful resource, and will generally tell you if something is garbage. His site has helpful info, but otherwise it's a little like reading the reviews on Amazon.
