i was really happy friday when my 11-16mm tokina came (on time from hdew)....

went to use it today for the first time and have noticed a white spot on the lens approx the size of 1mmx1mm (not huge)

have tried to remove the spec with no success, so am after so advice...

how can i find out if/how much it'l affect the photos?? is there a simple means to testing??? have considered taking a pic of a white piece of paper, to see defects, but being a white spec (would it be visible??) or would this be a complete waste of time??? is there any better ways??

Can't you get it replaced?

Just use the lens as you usually would. If you see the spot (which is highly unlikely) send it back. If you don't, keep using it.
