Whilst in the New Forest, spotted this small group of deer - they were cautious and kept their distance and I only had an 85mm on so a poor wildlife shot but there appears to be two white deer.
Am I correct in assuming they are white, or is it some aspect of immaturity/colour change issue?

Yes they are white fallow deer, there are a lot in Petworth Park my local place

Thanks Ingrid

White deer in parks are common as are black. In the wild..its a different story...They dont seam to do well..

There are two types of white...leucistic (white with blue eyes) is the most common and also the most common in parks.

Albino (white with red eyes) are rare

In my local patch we have 3 heards that total about 40 animals and there are two white doe's. One leucistic and one albino and they are are nightmare to get close too. The albino is super shy.

Here is a poor shot of her.

White deer are born white as its a mutation. In my local heards there has been no white born or survive for the past two years.
