i set my camera at auto WB...and have been shooting jpegs
now i am trying raw and understand all the data is ready for treatment and then save as jpeg
so i do the regular things like contrast saturation etc simple stuff..sharpen and save as tiff or jpeg
i cant recall any adjustments i do for wb...except my camera is set at auto...so it doesnt enter my head
how do i adjust this in raw if it has to under my circumstances

Hi Geof - what software are you using to process the raw files?

either oloneo photo engine which is for hdr but supports raw
or
stepok freebie...which does about 4 things to adjust
or
picassa 3 which supports raw and has sort of dumbed down click and slide adjustements....

there may be more but WB adjusting was never a thought so i could be missing something in those software packages

my ps 2 is too old to take a raw plug in

i saw that and usually left as 'as shot'...but i can see there are choices and/or a slider which i will try out...
usually the shot looks ok but i think i ought to be able to adjust the wb just in case the lighting wasnt good/artificial or i want the shot to look a bit different..usually skin tones

In Photoshop Elements it's the temperature slider measured in degrees kelvin, i always leave my WB on auto in camera. You might also want to try PS if you haven't already Geof ?

hell...i havent even seen the temperature control in ps 2..
when i get home i will check that out
sounds like i am on good ground with the wb set on auto and then doing the colour temp in raw later if there are variations
