Which Yongnuo (or Similar) ??

I'm interested in dipping my toe into flash/strobist photography, having previously only shot natural light. Whilst I'm happy to read blogs etc for technique advice - I could really use some pointers regarding what to buy based on my needs.

I currently have a 30D, soon (hopefully) to be upgraded to a 5Dii. As such I am looking for an E-TTL flash which will work both (as sometimes I will want to "just use it" on the 5Dii), that I can also use off camera with wireless triggers (probably Yonguno).

It's mainly going to be used for portraits, both indoor home studio (until I can decide whether to buy studio heads) and outdoor. I'm looking to buy at least 2 flashes (possibly 3 depending upon price).

I'm hoping that using a twin flash head through a reasonable size softbox will be usable indoors and bare/stofen'd* outdoors (*I know these reduce the power, but seem to be useful in widening the zoom amongst other things)?

So TP - does anyone have any suggestions??

Do you want to use it wirelessly in TTL mode. If so i think either a canon or a nissin di866 would be the best bet. If your going to use it wirelessly without TTL any of the nissins or yongnuo would be good. I would get the yn460II(?) as the other flashes in the system with either the yn602/3 triggers or the cactus 4/5. The yn460 has got good review when a fully manual flashgun is needed.

Wireless TTL would be great (I think ) - but I suspect it comes at a price?

I was hoping not to spend as much the EX430/di866, particularly as I want 2 (or possibly 3).

I'd seen the yn467/468's are E-TTL, but I've seen mixed reports about compatibility - does anyone have any experience of them?

I would go with the 866ii as it is an investment and can be found for £180 ish. then you have a flash that you could grow with and add to. If you want more then get triggers to fire a couple of yn460ii for hair backgrond stuff.
Then when you have a grasp and more money get the 622ii to make use of the wireless ttl.

I've been having a look around and between the jessops 360afd, the nissin 866 and the 622 (mk2). If your going to be playing with flashes then the 866 seems to be a sensible investment & can act as a master. I think the HSS and stroboscopic modes look pretty interesting and think I'll probably end up buying an 866. It iust seems to do very well in the reviews and have a decent set of features. I haven't compared it to the canon 460 ex io ( may have got the number wrong. Haven looked at it)

As I said in my post, I was looking and came to the conclusion Nissin 866ii, not jessops, it is something rebranded. With th rf602 triggers you can then get a couple of cheaper flashes quickly. then get a 622ii when money allows to try ettl of camera.
