I have a D7000 and I am pretty happy with it, but I have had a D2X and absolutely loved that camera, so if you had a choice to make, which one would you choose

D2X
or
D7000

Sounds like what you really want is a D3s, it'll have the build of the D2x with better IQ and noise handling that you find with the D7000.

Sadly I don't have D3s money to spend, but you are right :(

It's a tough one then if you like both, do you only plan to keep one? You can't keep both? Personally I would pick the D7000 for the better tech. The D2x is built like a tank but it's pretty old hat now.

Looks like I am sticking with the D7000 then, I have it gripped so the same feel as a D2X just not the weight.

I have had a D2X and D2XS in the dark and distant past. I really liked them at the time but not sure I could go back to one as main camera. Just too many mod cons that I have got used to. The lack of live view, small iso range, the slightly awkward way in which images are reviewed, the lack of AF points etc.. Great cameras but the game has moved on a bit. All that being said, the D2X, D200 and Fuji S5 that I've had all had a special something at low ISO that I don't think I've had on a digital camera since. I'd happily keep one for special occasions.

I had the D200 first, then the S3 and then the D2X all three had a special something, the S3 was slow though...........very slow but the IQ was superb for portraits, absolutely outclassed for any fast moving action.
