Hi All,

I've been out and about for a few weeks now practicing with my first camera and I'm now wondering which tripod would be the best bet for a beginner.

I've been advised that Redsnapper are a good make to go with, but I'm unsure which one to get, and do I buy a combination tripod and head together.

Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Lee

Hello,

I also am a beginner, and I bought a redsnapper RS-324 & RSH-528 Head combo for £99

The Tripod I think is great, though having doubts on the head....
Maybe I need just to get used to it, never used one before
Though they are doing a ball head with it but that is £40 more
I am quite a tall person (6'1") and the tripod extends more than enough for me not to bend down to get a shot
I don't think its to heavy to carry, and is very sturdy and smooth to operate.

Overall I feel a good bit of kit for the price.

:)

Hi Lee

Im getting a new tripod Manfrotto 190XPROB Pro Tripod and a Manfrotto Pan + Tilt Head with Quick Release MN804RC2 great for low down macro as it goes almost flat to the floor, also strong enough to hold a Gimabal head and long lens

Thats a great tripod Dave. I got one of those after messing with one at FOCUS 2010. The horizontal post is very useful and the whole tripod is much lighter without loosing too much in strength etc. I did have two 055s but after getting the 190 I am now getting rid of one of the 055s I bought just before christmas as I only need 2 tripods :) If I had to pick ONE tripod it would be the 055 but its handy to have a lighter alternative -See my sig under LCD wanted :) !-

Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated.

I'll be walking a lot with the tripod attached to my bag, does this make any difference to the above? Would the redsnapper body work say with the manfretto head? I'm totally new so I don't know if it's universal fittings or make to make.

Red Snapper and Manfrotto legs will work with either head and vice versa.

Thanks Darren. I'm thinking I'll spend the extras pennies on the Manfretto combo, hopefully it stand me in good stead. :D
