Hi this is my first post and i am new to photography so forgive my probably easy answer to someone out there ,
I recently purchased a Nikon D700 and have bought a Sigma
18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Lens and was thinking of getting a converter for the lens probably a 1.4 due to cost of 2x but the question is which one to go for a Sigma ,Nikon or other makes i dont know about?

Is there compatability issues with this lens for converters etc also.

Please advise for the above and are they any good do you lose any quality or F stops etc.

Thanks
for advise in advance.

Forget it first of all, the TCs are probably no compatable with your lens, second, if it did work, manual focus only, third your lens is very slow anyway, adding a TC you will lose 1 or 2 f-stops of light, example

200mm f4 lens + 1.4x TC becomes 280mm f5.6
200mm f4 lens + 2x TC becomes 400mm f8

and finally the image quality will be pants.

TCs are really designed for the fast prime lenses, because their optics can cope with these issues. Save you money and buy a longer zoom like the sigma 120-400mm, 150-500mm or 50-500mm
