hi guys
Which remote shutter release system should I get ?
Fed up buying the cheap ones & replacement them when I change camera ..
After a make which I can buy a new lead only when I upgrade camera ..
Got a 5d2 & 7d2 at the moment but thinking of upgrading to 5d3 ..
Plus the missus has a 60D
any views would be helpful

A pair of Yongnuo RF603 II's wouldn't be bad....they'll sort out all your current and proposed bodies with the added advantage that you could trigger a remote flash if the need arose.
£22 (free delivery) from Amazon

Unfortunately not.....unless you want to end up with thumb-ache.

I bought a set of these 6 months ago. It is a proper dedicated remote shutter release timer system not a converted flashgun trigger.
You can set shutter release intervals, set specific number of shutter releases and set long exposure times.
They are excellent value at roughly £30.00 ish.

I've been using a Hahnel Giga Pro for a while and that's pretty good in my view. Can set it up for long exposures, single or multiple. Use it mainly for Astro where I'm taking say 70 45 second exposures. Works well as a simple shutter release also.

Can you buy the diff wirers to make this work on diff cameras eg all in my list ?
As it only does some of them on my camera list..
This is the problem the company's seem to make these to work on a limited model range ..
So you end up with more than one in your camera bag ,don't make sense to me why cant I buy the diff wire only when I buy a upgade ??

Looks like this is the system I need as seen a listing on ebay stating diff wires for other models of cameras ..
The only problem he's in china & don't understand I would like to buy the extra wires I need ..
So now still looking for a retailer for these extra wires

This device has a standard 2.5mm connection on the receiver so I did a quick search for Remote shutter cable 2.5mm on ebay and found a good range of cables. Cables for your canon cameras are easily available.
Accessory manufactures jobs have been made difficult by camera manufacturer who put the strangest connectors on their cameras to try to make you buy their over prices accessories.

2.5 mm on the hand set as well ?
Does the 60D 1.5mm jack looks smaller than head phones socket ?
