Which Nikon Lens.

Having just received a new Nikon D3100 for Christmas with a standard 18-55mm lens attached I am keen to add to my kit with a telephoto lens. I have looked at two possibilities, the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 55-300 f4.5-5.6G ED VR zoom lens & the Nikon AF 70-300 F4-5.6 G Black Nikkor lens.
I am confused as to which one would be the best to buy therefore any advice would be gratefully accepted :bang:

Unless it's the VR model the 70-300 won't autofocus on your camera, as neither have a motor....

i say the 55-300 VR or 55-200 VR

I have the 55-200 with my D80 and is a good value lens. If you want more zoom go for the 70-300 but as Flash said make sure you get the correct one.
