Hi All,

Have been looking at the Macro forum, and would like to have a go at producing some of the shots I've seen. Already have the Nikkor 105mm f2.8 Micro lens, so started to look at lighting. To be honest, I am very confused!

The camera I am running is a D700. Nikon appear to do two "close-up" lighting kits - the R1 close up kit, and the R1C1 close up kit. A little confused, as the R1 kit appears to be listed for use with the D70 or D200. Will they both work with the D700 (R1 using the built-in flash as the commander), or will I have to go with the R1C1 kit?

What alternatives should I also be considering. I already have an SB-900 aswell.

TIA, Bradders

I think the main difference in the kits is the SU800 comes with one (I dont know which, but chances are its the one that is the most expensive) and the other has a little IR filter for the on board flash.
I am insanely jealous of your 105!
I thought about a ringflash by Marumi, seems to get good reviews, But I'm just going to use my pair of SB 900s

Thanks SK. The 105 (actually most of the gear) belongs to work for use by the design/marketing team. I've taken the opportunity to get involved in photography for the first time, and keep borrowing the expensive bits!

Will have a look at the ringflash you mention.

Cheers Bradders.
