Which Nikon FE or FM?

Right, in manual the camera will display the matchstick needed but shoot at what ever settings you have picked.

In auto the camera is aperture priority and will select the correct shutter for your chosen aperture, the meter on the OM is a match for any handheld meters at what it does. If left in auto it'll drop to stand by turning off the metre, if you touch the shutter button it'll turn on and metre in time for a correct exposure.


In off the meter comes on for a fraction of a second to make a correct exposure.
 
Well all new seals on the FM (even on parts of the door that probably didn't have them originally) and it's light tight now..........but all my shots for the good morning challenge were ruined testing the camera with Tamron lenses, I was using Konica Centuria exp 2002 and they were all well under exposed and very grainy. Well halfway through I wound the film back and put the film into my Pentax S3 and the shots were good but colours were so so.
h'mm I have two Tamron\Nikon adapters....one says AI-E and the other just says N\AI, well I'm sure I tested them on my Nikon 2000 and they were ok.. Anybody have any problems with Tamron lenses on their Nikon? Of course I'll try again with using the FM and Tamron and this time note the adapter used and solve the puzzle that even with the catch up and if I forgot to do stop down metering then the negs should have been well over exposed...the FM meter is working ok.

Just AAMOI in this week's tV midsomer murders, the house where the illusionist lived was this one, which I photographed a few days before and in fact is Chenies manor house built in the 16th century...anyway Konica Centuria exp 2002 box speed 200ASA Pentax 35mm lens


The cemetery belongs to the church and interesting chimneys from this side of Chenies manor house same gear as above.

Brian, have you tried one or two shots on the FM with a Nikon lens? That'll confirm whether or not there's a further problem with the camera before you bang your head on the wall over various adapters.

Yes Dean that's how I knew there was a light leak and the shots were otherwise ok with a 24mm Vivitar (F mount) also F mount Nikon 50mm...the one disadvantage of owning a Nikon is the lenses are more expensive (and you don't see many at the bootie :() and have only two non AF Nikon lenses and both are 50mm, but have a nice range of Tamron primes and zooms. I've let some great buys slip through and remember a guy at the bootie (about 2 years ago) wanted £40 (might have got it for £35) for a Nikon 24mm AIS and passed....:arghh:
Anyway just loaded up the FM and this time will leave the latch down so the FM should do auto stop down as on reflection about my previous post, I might have not done stop down metering when the latch is up.
erm Just thought...and a very quick check on google and it looks like I can use my two AF-d lenses on the FM????? so no need to use the Tamron zoom over 50mm............can you or anybody confirm it can be done with no problems?

I think so. AFAIK you can use any F-mount lens and non-AI lenses that need stop-down metering with the latch up. Don't forget to switch the lens to manual focus. :)
 
Well to end this thread on a happy post...the FM is working perfectly now (thanks Dean for the camera) and the 24mm Vivitar (F mount) result is at least good for results....might do some pixel peeping on some tests to see how good. Even the Lloyds pharmacy film exp 2006 was good.

Asda dev and scan and the usual adjustments in PS... Vivitar 24mm (f mount)


Same as above but Nikon 50mm (f mount)
