Which Nikon DSLR?

Hi, I'm after replacing my Nikon 7000 that has gone to meet its maker. I don't want to move away from Nikon as I like the layout and how the 7000 felt.

My question is what should I replace it with? would have to be used as my budget is only around the £500 mark.

Any ideas?

If all your lens are dx then you might find a 7200 used in your budget else if you have FF lens and depending what you shoot my be a d700 or d600/10. The d600 may need a bit extra over £500.
 
What are you wanting to gain from an upgrade?
 
If you were happy with D7000 get another. Other than that a D7100 ...........I have just bought one....... super. (y) What went wrong with your D7000?

The old D7000 would not power up after it got dropped. Still kicking myself. Local camera shop has had it to no avail.

Not necessarily looking to upgrade, just seeing what the forums opinions were. I did like the 7000, but will see what extra I get for my money with the 7100,7200.

As above, I missed that it had died. In that case if you can afford it it makes sense to get the D7200. It will feel familiar but obviously offers better performance.
 
D7200, lovely DX camera :)
 
The 7100 offers improved MP but the 7200 has a better sensor in it. I have a 7000 and a 7100 and love them both. Rather than take your broken 7000 to the local camera shop have you thought about sending it direct to Nikon inKingston to see if they can fix it??? They can work wonders and have done for me.
 
Is it covered under house insurance ? if so get it sorted out through them, a few years ago I dropped a camera, I had it repaired under my home policy, normally if it can't be repaired they would have to replace, as the D7000 and D7100 are discontinued the next up is the D7200 even if you have to pay towards it it's got to be a better option, you could always tell them the D500 is the replacement, lol, not that I'm endorsing that :)

In what way? They're both identical CMOS sensors. D7200 has an increased pixel count of 0.1 million. Not noticeable in the real world. How does the D7100 offer improved MP?

The D7100 offers more MP than the D7000, 24mp vs 16mp. The D7200 has better colour depth, better DR and better noise handling than the D7100, which has better colour depth and noise handling than the D7000.

Apologies. I've misunderstood the post to be comparing the D7100 sensor to the D7200.

Going back to the choices. The consensus with the reviewers seems to be. If you need to upgrade from a 7000, then you may as well get the 7200. But if you already have a 7100, then it's not worth the upgrade to the 7200.........I think that makes sense :thinking:
 
Yep that makes perfect sense, just go for the D7200 or you could go full frame and get a minty D700 for around £550, a little older buy one of Nikon's finest FF cameras
