Yes
I have a the Cokin P filter system at the moment but seem to get vignette on it when using it on my 17-55mm. I've looked and the B+W & other screw on ND filters also can you screw as many as you like on top of each other

Anyone know what these are like compared to the Lee & other filter system

Budget about £150-200

Try here http://www.speedgraphics.co.uk

You'd be best buying the lee filter holder as i'm sure it simply pins on/off quickly, the cokin isnt great as it slides over the adapter ring and loosens off with use.
Then purchase the cheaper hitech filters

i have tried 2 filters screwed together then screwed into front of lens 17-85 is,
vignetting occurs quite severe at wide end as you zoom it fades
must point out that they were only cheap 7 day shop, apparantley the more expensive ones have a bevelled edge to counter act it
with only one filter wide setting i can still see some vignetting however acceptable for what i do

hope that helps

I use the "Z PRO" cokin ND filter set and am very pleased with it.
Easy to use, good results even at 18mm (cokin recommend 20mm), uses 4x4 or 4x6 glass filters, you can stack them and use a polorizer at the same time.
These filters just slide in and out of the holder.
Well recommended and the 3 filter ND set cost approx £140.

Link not working

It should be http://www.speedgraphic.co.uk

If you're prepared to pay the price Lee filters are excellent and true ND. Cokin are grey, not neutral.
There are a couple of companies that sell them at slightly lower prices, Karlu.com is one and from memory, I think another is morco.co.uk

Sorry, I see the correct URL has already been posted.

I'd corrected the link

Isnt the cokin holder a slide fitting?

If so it a can be a bind plus wear is a factor

Argh, confused. Here's the kit in my basket.

Intended to be used on a Sigma 17-70 (72mm thread)

Hitech 100 Wide Angle Adapter Ring

* Thread Size - 72mm

£26.00

Hitech 100 Mk4 Filter Holder - 3 Filter Slots + Ring

£46.00

Hitech 100 ND Grad Filter Kit (SOFT Edge)

£59.00

Have I got the right stuff to get started?

If you're only going to use a single filter at a time then you perhaps the Cokin P wide-angle holder (assuming you're not using it already) would solve the vignetting?

It worked well on a 10-22mm lens so it should work on your 17-55mm.
