Hi all,

I recently purchased a Lencarta UltraPro 600 (2.5kg), with a 140 x 30cm softbox (1.23kg) - Currently i have some cheapo stands from China, which as you can imagine i don't trust to hold this.

I'm on the lookout for something heavy duty, I don't want to spend a fortune but definitely will spend what's required to ensure the ~5kg of lighting will be safe, i already have some sandbags so help weigh it down.

So, before buying I thought I'd ask here incase anyone could recommend something for definite.

I did a search on here and came across the this and this - Anyone got thoughts on these?

Thanks
Barry

It may seem like a silly question, but did you not consider a Lencarta stand - well made and reasonably priced.

Lencarta do very nice stands at good prices. Their bigger model is a meaty affair (2.8m version I think). Not sure you'd need that, but nice to have.

For stability, the most important thing is a wide footprint though that's not always quoted. The downside is big stands are easier to trip over and can be a bit of a problem in confined domestic spaces.

PS Someone (Garry?) should produce a simple bracket so when you've got a big and front-heavy combo it shifts the centre of gravity backwards directly over the top of the stand. That would help a lot and cost about 50p (ie £10 retail  :D).
